Transformation of the Desert: A Kazakhstan Today Documentary
Aksu Prefecture in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region continues to implement a large-scale desertification control program. Since 1986, the region has been establishing protective forest belts and introducing drip irrigation technologies, significantly slowing the advance of the Taklamakan Desert and restoring vast areas of degraded land.
Today, the green belt protects towns and villages from sandstorms and dust storms, while rehabilitated areas are used to cultivate economically valuable forest crops. At the same time, the region is developing eco-tourism. The Dolan Ecological Park and the Tianshan Canyon attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, creating new jobs and generating additional income for local communities.
One of the project's key components has been the efficient use of meltwater from the glaciers of the Tianshan Mountains. By combining modern technologies, ecosystem restoration, and infrastructure development, Aksu has been able to mitigate the effects of desertification while creating new opportunities for the region's socio-economic development.

Snow Leopard Family Captured on Camera Again in Katon-Karagai

A female snow leopard and her three growing cubs have once again been captured by a camera trap installed in the mountains of Katon-Karagai National Park.
The same family was recorded by the camera trap several months ago. The latest footage shows that the cubs have grown significantly and continue to accompany their mother in their natural habitat.
The camera trap was installed by forest ranger Zhomart Amanbayev. The footage provides further evidence of the successful development of the offspring of one of Kazakhstan's rarest and most protected predators.

Rare Persian Leopard Spotted Again in Kazakhstan

Camera traps in Kazakhstan’s Ustyurt State Nature Reserve have once again captured images of the extremely rare Persian leopard.
The predator was recorded by the cameras in March and May this year, reaffirming the reserve’s importance as a natural habitat for one of the world’s rarest wild cat species.
Reserve specialists continue to monitor the movements of the Persian leopard and track the status of its population.

Blooming Poppies at the Foot of the Alatau Mountains
Almaty-based photographer Dmitry Dotsenko has published a video of blooming poppies against the backdrop of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains and shared his reflections on the beauty and contrasts of nature.
According to the photographer, such landscapes make people pause and look at the familiar scenery of their homeland from a new perspective.
Sometimes you simply want to stop and gaze at this scene for a long time: eternal rugged mountains and fragile scarlet poppies at their foot," Dotsenko said.
The photographer compared the poppies to ballerinas in red dresses swaying in the wind, while describing the peaks of the Alatau as silent icy giants.

Red Book bear cubs born at Almaty Zoo

At the Almaty Zoo, two Tien Shan brown bear cubs have been born.
The cubs were born in January to the pair Kurmanbek and Gerda. For the female, this is her fourth litter.
According to specialists, bear cubs are born blind and spend several months in shelter, feeding on their mother’s milk. They have now grown, and the mother has begun bringing them out into the large enclosure.

Fire broke out early in the morning in the Pingshan district of Shenzhen at a parking facility for electric vehicles

The blaze started in a multi-level garage used to store test and decommissioned cars. According to the fire department, emergency units arrived at 02:48 Beijing time and quickly contained the fire. The company reported that the fire was fully extinguished and there were no casualties.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
