Almaty. July 24. Kazakhstan Today - About 12.8 mln tons of grain with 8.1 centners crop yield per ha will be harvested in Kazakhstan this year, Minister of Agriculture Asylzhan Mamytbekov said at the session of the Government of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"According to the forecasts of the regions, about 12.8 mln tons of grain will be harvested with crop yield being at the level of 8.1 centers per ha", the Prime Minister's official website quotes the Minister of Agriculture.

Besides, the International Grain Council reduced the world forecast on production of wheat in 2012-2013 to 665 mln tons which is 6 mln tons fewer than the forecast in May and 30 mln tons fewer than was forecast last year. It is conditioned by dry weather in the main countries producing and exporting grain (the USA, Australia, Argentina, Russia and Ukraine), the Prime Minister's website writes.

As a result, the prices in the world market increased by 35-89 dollars and reached 330 dollars over the decade. The prices in the domestic market in Kazakhstan also increased from 124 to 200 dollars.

In accordance with the information of RSE KazGidroMet, dry weather conditions affecting agriculture are observed in some regions of Kazakhstan. The southern parts of Kostanay region and Akmola region, the western and southern parts of Karaganda region, the southern and the eastern parts of Aktobe region are exposed to the draught the most.

According to the Minister, the situation can result in the growth of prices for flour and bread, reduction of the productivity of forage lands and deficit of the fodder and reduction of the cattle and in the deficit of seeds for the next year.

"Taking into account the current situation, it is necessary to take urgent measures on prevention of the consequences of the drought, store and supply grain and fodder for the cattle in the regions which do not have it because of the weather conditions this year and we also have to prevent a rise of prices for flour and bread," the Head of the Ministry said.

In order to address these issues, the Ministry developed a complex of measures aimed at support of farmers and prevention of the growth of prices for flour and bread.
