Astana. February 23. Kazakhstan Today - The Customs Union will lead to the increase of prices and the share of the goods of the Russian Federation and Belarus in the Kazakhstan market. The Majilis deputy, Gulzhana Karagusova, informed during the governmental hour in Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan on Monday, the agency reports.

All tariff policy of the union is based on the rates Russia. The trading balance with Russia and Belarus amounts to about 30 % and this balance, in case of active commercial policy, can increase up to 35 - 40 % during the next two-three years, which will naturally lead to the increase of prices," G. Karagusova said.

The Customs Union market will belong to those who are more competitive." "There is a logical question: if creation of the Customs Union will lead to growth in the Kazakhstan market of the goods of these countries and whether this will negatively impact our commodity producers," she noted.

Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce of Kazakhstan, Zhanar Aytzhanova, said that a significant increase of prices for foodstuffs is not expected. "As for foodstuff, with the increased taxes, the main competition to the Kazakhstan manufacturers will be the goods imported from the CIS - about 90 % - in particular from Russia and Belarus, which will not be taxed according to the free trade zone agreement. Thus, change of level of customs will not lead to the increase of prices," she concluded.
