Kazakhstan gold currency reserves grew by 1.5 % in August

Almaty. September 6. Kazakhstan Today - The international reserves of Kazakhstan in the current prices, including money of the National Fund (according to preliminary data $10 935.3 million), grew in 2006 by 1.5 % and made $24 478.8 million, the National Bank of Kazakhstan press service informed the agency.

Servicing of external debt of the Ministry of Finance, carrying out operations on updating the National Fund actives and the currency sale in the internal currency market, has led to the decrease in net foreign currency reserves (hard currency) by $332.6 million. Actives in gold decreased by $29.3 million as a result of the decrease in its price in the world markets by 2.39 %.

In real terms, net international reserves of the National Bank decreased by 2.4 %, net actives in hard currency - by 2.6 %, actives in gold have not changed.

Decrease in net international reserves of the Central Bank in August, 2006 caused compression of monetary base by 5.5 % (or by 63.9 billion KZT).
