Almaty. December 23. Kazakhstan Today - OPEC has kept the present level of oil extraction. The Minister of Energy and Mines of Algeria, OPEC President Shakib Helil, informed, following the results of the regular session of OPEC conference, which came to an end in Luanda.

The Ministers of Oil of OPEC member countries decided to keep the accepted in January of 2009 an extreme quota of oil extraction of 24.84 million barrels per day to stabilize the market of oil after fivefold falling of the world prices due to the world crisis in 2008.

The oil-extracting community considers the current corridor of the world prices for oil - $75 - 80 per barrel quite logical.

OPEC members are 12 countries, which control about 2/3 of the world's reserves of oil: Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. 40 % of the world extraction, or half of world export of oil accounts for the share of these countries.
