Almaty. December 24. Kazakhstan Today - The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) may hold the extraordinary meeting of its members on January, 19th, 2009 in Kuwait to discuss a possibility of further reduction of volumes of manufacture of oil. OPEC President, Minister of Oil of Algeria, Shakib Helil, informed at the press conference on Tuesday, Bloomberg informs.

OPEC has practically lost the control over the oil market. The proceeding falling of the prices for oil, despite the accepted restriction of oil extraction, is the evidence of this.

The accepted by OPEC decision on decrease of quotas of oil extraction by 2.2 million barrels a day could not stop further decrease of the prices. As a result, the cartel had to further reduce oil manufacture. In this connection, OPEC does not exclude that it will continue decreasing supply until it reaches balance.
