Total external debt of Kazakhstan in I quarter decreased by $2.7 billion

Total external debt of the Republic of Kazakhstan in I quarter of 2009 for the first time has shown decrease by $2.7 billion and has been, as of March 31, 2009, $105.1 billion. The chair of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Grigory Marchenko, informed during the press conference in Almaty, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - Total external debt of the Republic of Kazakhstan in I quarter of 2009 for the first time has shown decrease by $2.7 billion and has been, as of March 31, 2009, $105.1 billion. The chair of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Grigory Marchenko, informed during the press conference in Almaty, the agency reports.

The share of short-term debt (the obligation with the initial term of payment till 1 year) in the structure of promissory notes of the residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan has decreased from 9.9 % in 2008 to 8.5 % in I quarter of 2009.

The share of the state external debt including the obligations of the government and the National Bank is 2 % of total amount of total external debt.
