The explosion at a Kazzinc plant was preliminarily caused by a violation of the technological process, Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov said at a government meeting.
The minister noted that the investigation is ongoing and that the relevant examinations and studies have been commissioned with the involvement of industry experts.

Four tick-borne encephalitis cases recorded in Akmola region

Since the start of the epidemic season, more than 500 people suffered tick bites in Akmola region, Qazinform News Agency cites the sanitary and epidemiological control department.
532 tick bite cases were registered in the region, including 144 among children under 14.
425 people received preventive immunoglobulin treatment; 107 did not, due to late medical visits, contraindications, refusal, or bites in non-endemic areas.
The highest number of bites was reported in Kokshetau up to 155, 149 in Burabay district, and 85 in Sandyktau district.
Four confirmed cases of tick-borne encephalitis were detected in the region.
A 17-year-old student from Sandyktau district is in intensive care with a severe condition after removing a tick himself and not seeking medical help promptly.
Sandyktau district is considered endemic for tick-borne encephalitis. Annual anti-tick treatments are carried out by sanitary services.
The region has supplies of immunoglobulin for emergency post-bite treatment and vaccines for at-risk groups.

An-2 plane crashes in Pavlodar region

Earthquake felt in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region

Residents of Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region experienced earthquake tremors on Monday morning after seismic activity was recorded near the Bayanaul area, according to the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 11:28 a.m. local time on May 26. Tremors were reportedly felt by residents in the city of Ekibastuz.
Officials stated that the seismic station network operated by the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research detected the earthquake. The epicenter was located about 855 kilometers northwest of Almaty within Pavlodar region.
Authorities reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 30 kilometers, with coordinates registered at 50.47° north latitude and 76.47° east longitude. The estimated shaking intensity in Bayanaul village reached 2 points on the seismic scale.
An operational headquarters has been established by the Pavlodar region department of emergency situations to monitor developments and coordinate response measures.
No casualties or structural damage have been reported so far, and public infrastructure and essential services are continuing to function normally. Emergency officials also announced the opening of a hotline.

Young bear spotted on streets of Zhetysu region settlement

A young bear ran through the streets of Saryozek in the Kerbulak district of Zhetysu region, Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to the author of the video, Arkhat Kairanov, he spotted the bear at around 4 a.m. near the Laula store while heading toward the railway station.
The bear looked confused, so I immediately started filming. At first, I thought it was a dog, but when I got closer, I realized it was a bear. You don’t see something like this every day - I was shocked," the eyewitness said.
The footage shows the young bear running along a street in the settlement before disappearing into nearby bushes.
A similar incident had previously been recorded in the region, when a bear wandered onto the grounds of a hotel in the Dzungarian Alatau State National Nature Park. At the time, specialists noted that wild animals may move closer to populated areas during warmer seasons in search of food.
Residents have been urged to remain cautious and immediately notify emergency and environmental authorities if they encounter wild animals.

Two people were killed and another five were injured following today's incident at the metallurgical site of Kazzinc in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to the company’s press service, the incident occurred on the morning of May 5 during production operations.

Wild wind rips off roofs and uproots trees in Karaganda region

Strong gusts of wind swept across several cities and districts of Karaganda region, causing damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles. According to Mets, wind speeds reached 23 meters per second, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Roofs were partially torn off three residential buildings, and a parked car was damaged in Karaganda. Trees were uprooted across the city.
In Abai, roofs of two five-story apartment buildings were damaged, while in Osakarovsk district, the roof of a school building was affected.
In Karkaraly, a two-story residential building sustained damage, and a disused metal chimney collapsed at boiler house No. 2.
Mayor Meiram Kozhukhov noted that residents had been warned of adverse weather. Emergency services and local authorities promptly cleared dangerous debris and repaired damaged areas.
Authorities urged residents to remain indoors where possible and avoid parking vehicles under trees.
Despite destruction, no casualties or injuries were reported, and the situation remains under control.
