Iran denies that plane detained in Thailand intended to reach Teheran

According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, "this false information and negative propagation of the western mass media is directed at rendering "psychological and political pressure upon Iran" in connection with development of its own nuclear program. "We completely deny this information," the diplomat said.

According to Lenta.ru, weapons cargo was found on December, 11, 2009 onboard of Il-76. The plane, which had taken off from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, landed in Bangkok for re-fuelling.

According to the flight documents the plane transported bore well drilling equipment. Export of weapons from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is forbidden by a number of resolutions of the UN Security Council. Thai authorities arrested five crewmen and cargo. The criminal case against the pilots, one of whom is the citizen of Belarus and the others - citizens of Kazakhstan, has been instigated.

As informed earlier, Il-76, a cargo plane full of weapons detained in Bangkok, had been sold by Kazakhstan to Georgia on October 7, 2009. The chairman of the Civil Aircraft Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Radilbek Adimolda, informed at the press conference.
