Powers on formation of uniform custom duties transferred to supra- national body

Powers on formation of the uniform custom duties have been transferred to a supra-national body - the Customs Union Commission, the agency reports citing Belarus news agency BELTA.

Almaty. November 30. Kazakhstan Today - Powers on formation of the uniform custom duties have been transferred to a supra-national body - the Customs Union Commission, the agency reports citing Belarus news agency BELTA.

"Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will introduce uniform custom duties from January 1, 2010. Powers on formation of the tariffs have been shifted to a supra-national body - the Customs Union Commission. The customs territory of three countries will start to function from July 1, 2010. The decision was accepted on November 27 in Minsk, following the results of the session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council at the level of the leaders of states."

Prior to the beginning of the session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council, the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus discussed conditions of formation of the Customs Union.

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, said that creation of the Customs Union will allow Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus to reach by 2015 GDP growth of 15 %. "A huge market is being created, with total volume of stocks of oil - 90 billion barrels, gross GDP - $2 trillion, cumulative goods turnover - $900 billion, and volume of agricultural products - $112 billion."

The Presidents made a decision that the EurAsEC presidency in 2010 will pass to Kazakhstan. The next session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council will take place in the end of June, 2010 in Astana.
