Bishkek. May 19. Kazakhstan Today - Damage caused to Kyrgyzstan by the economic crimes of Kurmanbek Bakiev's family totaled 5 billion soms. Vice president of the provisional government of Kyrgyzstan, Azimbek Beknazarov, informed during the press conference, the agency reports.
According to A. Beknazarov, "100 criminal charges have been pressed against Bakiev's family on the facts of creation of corruption schemes, money-laundering and legalization of incomes, raider takeover of someone else's property, illegal privatization of the state property, and the plunder of public funds in especially large sizes."
The damage has been assessed for the sum of more than 5 billion som. In particular, A. Beknazarov informed, illegal activities concerning such large economic subjects as Development Fund of Kyrgyzstan, Manas airport, AziaUniversalBank, Manas Bank have been revealed. Such strategic objects, as Kyrgyztelekom, Chakan Hydroelectric Power Station, and Severelektro company have been illegally privatized.
"1.3 billion soms have been returned to the republican budget."
