Bill of amendments to Law On President of Kazakhstan introduced in Parliament

Astana. May 29. Kazakhstan Today - The bill on amendments and additions to the Constitutional Law On the President was introduced to the Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"The bill was introduced for the first time by way of the legislative initiative of the President," the head of the department of the legislation and legal examination of Administration of the President Talgat Donakov informed presenting the document to the deputies at the session of the Majilis Committee for legislation and judicial-legal reform.

The amendments concern "the term of the powers of the Kazakhstan leader, exclusion of banning of membership in political party for the period of execution of the duties of the President, specification of powers of the President in relation to the Parliament. In particular, such powers as scheduling parliamentary elections and its chambers, the right of election of 15 deputies of the Senate, in view of necessity of maintenance of representation in the Senate of national-cultural and other significant interests of the society have been introduced.

"The bill, according to the Constitution, specifies the powers of the head of the state on convocation of extraordinary session of the Parliament and the competence of the President of the state concerning signing the laws accepted by the Parliament. Now the term of signing of the law adopted by the Parliament will total not 15 working days but 30 days - 1 month," T. Donakov explained.
