Bishkek. October 10. Kazakhstan Today - Common position of the CIS countries on recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia will not be discussed at the session of the leaders of the states of the Commonwealth. The chairman of CIS Executive Committee, Sergey Lebedev, informed on Thursday at the press conference, following the results of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealths of Independent States, the agency reports.

"This question was discussed more than once at the SCO summit in Dushanbe and at CSTO summit in Moscow. As a result, it was decided that each of the CIS states will define independently expediency and the time of possible recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia," S. Lebedev said.

"The events on Caucasus influenced the relations of the CIS countries with the European Union and other international organizations."It would be wrong if I denied this fact. The relations are being actively restored and the plan of Medvedev - Sarkozi is being realized," S. Lebedev emphasized.

"The Russian government and CIS leadership in their joint decisions declared after SCO and CSTO summits and also in the separate statements made by the leaders of the countries peaceful ways and collective solution to this issue," he noted.
