Financial police initiated criminal cases on the theft of more than 6 billion tenge in Atyrau region

Atyrau. August 28. Kazakhstan Today - The Agency for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (Financial Police) initiated criminal cases on the embezzlement of more than 6 billion tenge in Atyrau region, Kazakhstan Today reports.

"On August 21, 2012 after checks by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan the financial police opened a criminal investigation into the abuse of power by officials of Akimat of Atyrau region in the decision on the privatization of communal property and their implementation at a lower cost, resulted in the substantial damage to the state," the press service of the Financial Police said on Monday.

Also, according to the press service, on August 23 and 24, this year there were initiated criminal cases for embezzlement of budget funds in the total amount of 3.5 billion tenge allocated for the construction of a gas pipeline in Kyzylkugin rayon of Atyrau region.

In addition, on August 28 two criminal cases on theft of $ 2 billion 850 million tenge from the budget during the realization of the project on building Atyrau - Dossor group water pipe, the report says.

In the framework of criminal investigations crimination of the officials of Akimat of Atyrau region and heads of organizations, carrying out contract work for the construction of the pipeline is being verified. Criminal cases investigated, other information in the interests of the investigation has not been disclosed.
