The International peace-making exercises Steppe Eagle - 2009 started today on Iliysky range of the Aeromobile Armies of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in Almaty area, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

Almaty. September 14. Kazakhstan Today - The International peace-making exercises Steppe Eagle - 2009 started today on Iliysky range of the Aeromobile Armies of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in Almaty area, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, the exercises, which have been traditionally held since 2003, will pass on September 14 - 26. The active phase of the exercises will take place on September 22-24.

As informed earlier, more than 1300 military men of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, Great Britain, and the USA will take part in the peace-making exercises.

"The purposes of the exercises is check of coordination of the work of the divisions Kazbrig and the alliance armed forces in operation to maintain peace and concord, increase of practical skills of commanders of the divisions, and organization of interaction between them during peace-making operations," the press service informed.
