Kazakhstan elected to UNESCO Executive Council

Kazakhstan has been elected to the structure of UNESCO Executive Council of the Asian-Pacific region for the 4-year-old period during the 35th session of UNESCO General Conference in Paris elections, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Astana. October 16. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan has been elected to the structure of UNESCO Executive Council of the Asian-Pacific region for the 4-year-old period during the 35th session of UNESCO General Conference in Paris elections, the agency reports citing the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

"The UNESCO member countries that took part in the elections, have highly appreciated contribution of Kazakhstan to rapprochement between people, the dialogue of cultures and civilizations, and, in particular, such Kazakhstan initiatives as declaration of 2010 International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures and carrying out on a regular basis of congresses of leaders of world and traditional religions in Astana," the press service.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Executive Council consisting of 58 members, makes decisions on the basic questions of the UNESCO activities between the sessions of the General Conference of this international organization.
