President proposed Masimov for Prime Minister

Astana. January 10. Kazakhstan Today - The Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed Karim Masimov for the Prime Minister post of the country today at the joint session of the Parliament Chambers, the agency reports.

41-year-old K. Masimov occupied the post of Vice Premier in D. Akhmetov's government.

K. Masimov has occupied the post of the assistant to the Prime Minister since January 2006. From April till October, 2006 he combined it with the post of the Minister of Economics and Budgetary Planning.

K. Masimov was born in 1965. He graduated from the Peking Language Institute, Law Institute of Uhan University, and the Kazakh State Academy of Management. He is a lawyer-foreign affairs specialist and the economist. He has the degree of Doctor of Economics. He can speak the English, Chinese, and Arabian languages.

He started his career as a chief economist, the chief of the department of the Labor Ministry.

He worked as the senior expert of the representation of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic in the city Urumchi (Peoples Republic of China), as the Executive Director of the trading house of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong. He was the Chairman of the board of Almaty Trading Financial and the National Saving Bank. He was appointed the Minister of Transport and Communications, the assistant to the Prime Minister and later the assistant to the President of the Republic Kazakhstan.
