Annual August pedagogical conference opened in Astana

Participants of the meeting discussed innovative methods and technologies of teaching, development of integrated programs, their introduction in the education process, international cooperation in the education sphere.

Almaty. August 22. Kazakhstan Today - The annual August conference "Pedagogical innovations: from development to introduction" was opened in one of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Astana today, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to the Prime Minister's official website, participants of the meeting discussed innovative methods and technologies of teaching, development of integrated programs, their introduction in the education process, international cooperation in the education sphere.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Makhmetgali Sarybekov said that further development of the country's education is defined in the instructions of the President given in his Address to the Nation and his article "Social Modernization of Kazakhstan: 20 Steps toward Society of Universal Labor".

"The keynote of today's pedagogical conference is social modernization as the main driving force of the human capital," the Deputy Minister said.

Several important goals are set in the secondary education system of Kazakhstan. One of them is the transfer to 12-year education. Implementation of the pilot projects on transfer to this education system will be continued on 104 schools of the country in the upcoming school year.

Another important direction for the secondary education development is multilingual education in schools. "On the instruction of the President, 100% of school graduates should speak the state language by 2020. The Russian and English languages as well as the languages of the other ethnic groups will be developed as well," M.Sarybekov said.

Besides, gradual teaching of the English language as well as teaching of the other disciplines in English is introduced in the first grades in 2013-2014. This will help Kazakhstani school students be competitive at the international level.

It is worth noting that the best practices in multilingual education and application of new teaching methods are approbated and introduced in the Nazarbayev Intellectual School. The experience of these schools will be spread among the secondary schools of the country.

Special attention is also paid to the courses on professional development of teachers organized in the Intellectual Schools. The courses provide for studying modern methods of teaching and acquisition of practical skills for building a modern innovative education model.

150 teachers of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools network from all regions of Kazakhstan, 165 foreign teachers and representatives of 35 schools selected as the basic schools for distribution of the practices of the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools took part in the conference.
