Anticorruption legal center opened in Astana

Public Fund Transparency Kazakhstan opened anticorruption legal center today in Astana, the agency reports.

Astana. October 16. Kazakhstan Today - Public Fund Transparency Kazakhstan opened anticorruption legal center today in Astana, the agency reports.

"A similar center has been working in Almaty for more than six months. During this time we have received through our hot line more than 500 complaints from the citizens who have faced the facts of blackmail and corruption," Executive Director of Public Fund Transparency, Sergey Zlotnikov, informed.

24 % of complaints are connected with education and 48 % of complaints are connected with the work of local authorities.

According to the representative of the delegation of the European Commission in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Pierre Lukas, the European Commission finances the project through Fund Transparency Kazakhstan. Total cost of the project makes 200 thousand euro.

Free-of-charge hot line for the citizens who have faced facts of corruption and extortion will be opened in the anticorruption center in Astana, which will begin its work next Monday.

The project is realized by Public Fund Transparency Kazakhstan financed by the European Union and assistance of Transparency International Secretariat (Berlin) and the OSCE Center in Astana.
