Increase in volumes of ice melting in Arctic regions can cost world billions of dollars

The increase in volumes of melting of ice and snow in the Arctic regions by the middle of the 21st century can cost the world billions of dollars. Such conclusion has been made in the report published by American Ecological Fund the Pew Environment Group, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. February 8. Kazakhstan Today - The increase in volumes of melting of ice and snow in the Arctic regions by the middle of the 21st century can cost the world billions of dollars. Such conclusion has been made in the report published by American Ecological Fund the Pew Environment Group, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

According to RBC, according to some scientists, only this year the loss from flooding and the periods of droughts has cost billions of dollars.

The report also underlines that, as a result of permafrost, large quantity of methane may be released. Methane emissions will promote further climate warming.
