Almaty. June 5. Kazakhstan Today – The leaders of non governmental mass media organizations of Kazakhstan addressed the Parliament deputies with the request to decline introduction of amendments and additions into mass media draft initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Information, mass media organizations informed at the press conference.
All innovations proposed by the Ministry of Culture and Information bear restrictive and repressive character. Proposed by the Ministry draft punishment toughening has no connection with abuse of freedom of speech but are caused by violation of organizational requirements contrary to article 20 of Kazakhstan Constitution, the appeal authors emphasize.
Kazakhstan mass media legislation has required reformation for a long time. These changes are to comply with the new development stage of the country. Mass media bill is the step back to stagnation and totalitarianism, the appeal authors concluded.
