Kyrgyzstan Parliament Committee approved ratification of contract on state border with Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan Parliament Committee for International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary cooperation approved the bill on ratification of the contract between Kyrgyzstan Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the state frontier, signed on October 15, 2001 in Astana, the agency reports referring to the Parliament press service.

Kazakhstan Today - Kyrgyzstan Parliament Committee for International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary cooperation approved the bill on ratification of the contract between Kyrgyzstan Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the state frontier, signed on October 15, 2001 in Astana, the agency reports referring to the Parliament press service.

According to the press service, the State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Taalaybek Kydyrov made the report on the bill at the session of the committee. The state Secretary explained the normative-legal bases of the bill and noted the value of ratification of the contract.

As of today, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have two disputable sites. To solve the issue, according to the deputy Aynura Kenzhebayeva, it is necessary to ratify the contract to legalize the borders that will enable Kyrgyzstan to solve the issue of disputable territories.

After the discussion the committee by majority of votes made a decision to approve the bill, to submit it for consideration of the Parliament and to recommend the government to carry on negotiations with the Kazakhstan party on introduction of amendments to the contract on two disputable sites.

The first site - Koksay in Karabuurin region of Talaas oblast. The second site is on the by-pass highway Bishkek - Torugart, in Drujba settlement of Chu oblast.

The government is to carry on negotiations with the Kazakhstan party on introduction of amendments to the contract between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan about Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan frontier.
