Shymkent appeal consideration on case of mass HIV infection began

Shymkent. July 31. Kazakhstan Today - Today in Shymkent appeal consideration on the case of mass HIV infection of the South Kazakhstan children began, the agency reports.

Consideration of the appeal has been appointed for 10.00 a.m. in the regional court. Since morning, the relatives of the condemned physicians, parents of HIV-infected children and journalists gathered near the court building.

Only the lawyers and the relatives of the participants of the process are in the building of the regional court. According to the correspondent of the agency, the condemned physicians are not present on consideration of the appeal. Journalists have not been allowed into the hall of the judicial sessions.

As it was informed earlier, on June 27, in Shymkent the verdict on the case of mass HIV infection of children was pronounced. 16 defendants were sentenced to imprisonment, five, including ex-chairman of the regional department of public health services N. Tasmagambetova, have been sentenced to conditional punishment. The same day about 40 doctors - friends and relatives of convicted prisoners - gathered before the building of Al-Farabi court and protested against unfair, in their view, verdicts.
