Almaty. June 10. Kazakhstan Today - World Health Organization (WHO) intends to declare the beginning of pandemic of the influenza A (H1N1), the agency reports citing the UN press service.

According to the international organization, WHO has received data from 73 countries of the world about 26 563 cases of the disease of the influenza A (H1N1). 140 cases have been fatal. WHO does not exclude that the decision on transition to the sixth phase of struggle against the influenza will be accepted soon. The announcement of this phase means that the global pandemic has begun.

K. Fukuda informed that now WHO is involved in preparation of the states for transition for the sixth phase. They should possess all the necessary information in this respect and not admit panic among the population. "Transition to the sixth phase does not necessarily mean that the seriousness of this disease worsens. WHO would like to avoid such adverse consequences of the global pandemic as trade embargoes, banning trips, closing of borders, introduction of travel restrictions, and slaughter of pigs," K. Fukuda said.
