Kazakhstan WTO accession to provide 4 % annual GDP growth - WB forecast

Astana. December 14. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan WTO accession will provide 4 % annual GDP increase in the intermediate term and in long-term - about 10 %. David Tarr, the expert of the World Bank, made the forecast today during the round table Kazakhstan entry into the WTO: the analysis and estimation of the consequences, the agency reports.

According to the expert, as a result of WTO introduction there is a probability of decrease in manufacture in a number of branches of the economy and also overflow of manpower from these branches to others, first of all into export-oriented.

On the whole D.Tarr is assured that after Kazakhstan accession into the WTO in the long-term prospect the local manufacturer will "win" as "the openness of the market will lead to the growth of direct foreign investments and the main capital of the national companies. "The openness of the Kazakhstan market will promote the improvement of telecommunication, banking, insurance and transport services and as a consequence will result in reduction of expenses for conducting economic activities," he noted.
