Russia, Turkmenistan agreed upon renewal of deliveries of gas

Almaty. December 23. Kazakhstan Today - During the visit of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, to Ashkhabad, the officials reached an arrangement to renew deliveries of Turkmen gas to the Russian Federation at the European price, the agency reports citing to ITAR-TASS.

Russia and Turkmenistan agreed on renewal of deliveries of Turkmen gas during the period from January 1 until January 10, 2010 in volume of 30 billion cubic meters annually. Vice President of the board of Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev, and the head of the state concern of Turkmenistan Turkmengas, Nury Muhammedov, signed the changes and additions to the purchase and sale of natural gas contract of April 10, 2003 in Ashkhabad. The documents were signed in the presence of the Presidents of two countries.

"For the first time in the history of Russian-Turkmen relations in gas sphere, deliveries of gas will be carried out on the basis of the price formula, which completely corresponds to the conditions of the European gas market," Gasprom Vice President underlined.

"The parties will realize joined projects of construction of the Near-Caspian gas pipeline and the gas pipeline the East - the West. "There are a number of projects of construction of the new gas pipelines through the territory of Turkmenistan and further in the European direction," he informed.
