France attaches strategic significance to partnership with Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon said today at the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Astana. February 8. Kazakhstan Today - France attaches strategic significance to partnership with Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon said today at the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Prime Minister informed that the purpose of his visit to Kazakhstan consists in deepening of cooperation with Kazakhstan. "The President of France Nicolas Sarkozy stated the necessity to double economic cooperation with Kazakhstan.

In his turn, the President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev stated the objective of Kazakhstan to expand cooperation with France. "We wish to establish very close economic and political relations with France," N. Nazarbayev said.

France is the fifth among foreign trading partners of Kazakhstan after Russia, Italy, Switzerland and China. According to Kazakhstan Statistics Agency, in 2007 volume of mutual commerce between Kazakhstan and France made $4.68 billion.

By volumes of investments France is the fourth after the Netherlands, the USA and the Great Britain. As of October of 2007, total amount of French investments into economy of Kazakhstan made $3.7 billion. Kazakhstan capital investments in the French economy make more than $260 million.
