President and US Assistant Secretary of State discussed development of bilateral cooperation

The head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, met the American Assistant Secretary of State, William Burns, the agency reports citing the president's press service. The American Assistant Secretary of State informed N. Nazarbayev of the results of the visit of the American leader to Moscow.

Astana. July 10. Kazakhstan Today - The head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, met the American Assistant Secretary of State, William Burns, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

"U. Burns passed the President of Kazakhstan the best regards from the American President Barack Obama. U. Burns said that arrival in Astana of the American delegation reflects "high priority, which the President of the USA Obama attaches to the relations with Kazakhstan," the press service informed.

The American Assistant Secretary of State informed N. Nazarbayev of the results of the visit of the American leader to Moscow.

"The visit of the US President to Moscow passed very successfully. Official Washington attaches big importance to good relations with Russia. The USA highly appreciates the relations and cooperation with Kazakhstan as well," U. Burns underlined.

According to the press service, during the talks the officials discussed prospects of development of bilateral cooperation, maintenance of regional security, and the questions of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

According to the press service, the officials also discussed the international issues representing mutual interest, in particular, stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
