Kazakhstan created working group on transition of Kazakh language to Latin script
Astana. 14 April. Kazakhstan Today - The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan has established a working group on the transition of the Kazakh language to the Latin script. This was announced by Chairman of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science Bolatbek Abdrassilov.
"This initiative was voiced earlier. This issue has been discussed very actively since 2012. Then we created a special group, which included our humanitarian institutions, including the Institute of our Linguistics, the Institute of Philosophy and others. The experience of transition to the Latin alphabet of our neighbors, such as Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and a number of other countries was studied. The approaches were also developed", B. Abdrassilov said.
He noted that the country develops a working group, which, in addition to our scientists, will attract specialists from other countries.
"The new work of our Head of State defined the specific deadlines, and now this work has begun. Now we are creating a working group, where we will involve our scientists, our experts in the field of linguistics, and, of course, in this group, probably, we will invite those people who have dealt with this issue in other countries. There is an experience. There are already some developments, and I think that appropriate solutions will be developed. For the state - this is a significant task, a group of scientists will be large and will work as a whole on the strategy, where a number of separate aspects will be considered. The staff of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan will also take part in the work of the group", B. Abdrassilov said.
We remind that on April 12, 2017, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the Government to develop a standard of the Kazakh alphabet on the basis of the Latin graphics by the end of this year, setting the deadline for a full transition to the Latin alphabet by 2025.

Olzhas Bektenov discusses water resources management issues with Heads of Diplomatic Missions of European Union countries
The scale and consequences of the natural disaster require from us radically new approaches for the proper use of resources and avoidance of similar incidents in the future. In this matter we are particularly interested in the best practices and experience of European countries and companies. It is important to synchronise the efforts of the Government of Kazakhstan with the assistance programmes of the European Union," Olzhas Bektenov said.
The water issue is in the priority of our co-operation with Central Asia. Like other natural resources, water must have its price in order to be used efficiently. This will stimulate the introduction of more efficient technologies, and many European companies are ready to work in this direction," Kestutis Jankauskas said and confirmed the readiness to ensure the transfer of knowledge and technologies in the field of sustainable management of water basins and rivers.
The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set a task for the Government - to develop the agro-industrial complex and ensure rational use of water resources. Agriculture and food industry are among the most important sectors of our economy. We have a huge potential for the production of high-quality and organic agricultural products and foodstuffs. We are interested in increasing food exports to the EU market. Taking into account the advanced agrarian technologies of European companies, we invite you to create joint projects for the production and processing of agricultural products. For our part, we are ready to make every effort to create a favourable environment for doing business," Olzhas Bektenov said.
