Kazakhstan is not satisfied by system of distribution of quotas on catch of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea - Nazarbayev

Kazakhstan is not satisfied by existing system of distribution of quotas on catch of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea.

Astana. October 17. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan is not satisfied by existing system of distribution of quotas on catch of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated on October 16 at the summit of the Caspian littoral states in Teheran.

"We consider that the existing mechanism of distribution of quotas on catch of sturgeon, when from all admissible catch Iran receives 45 %, Russia - 27 %, and other three states - 28 %, which are distributed between Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, does not meet today's realities," the leader of Kazakhstan stated.

"I believe that the Azerbaijan and Turkmen parties will support the necessity of revision of this discriminatory approach," he added.

"Former Soviet-Iranian agreements are out of date. Today five independent states exist around the Caspian Sea," the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.
