Kazakhstan Parliament ratified Agreement on Protection of Participants of Criminal Legal Proceedings

Today at plenary session Senate deputies passed the law on ratification of the Agreement on protection of participants in criminal legal proceedings, the agency reports.

Astana. May 29. Kazakhstan Today - Today at plenary session Senate deputies passed the law on ratification of the Agreement on protection of participants in criminal legal proceedings, the agency reports.

As it was informed earlier, objective of the Agreement is maintenance of effective struggle against criminality on the parties' territories - participants of the agreement and successful realization of the objectives of criminal judicial proceedings.

The agreement regulates interaction of law enforcement bodies of CIS member states in struggle against criminality and solution of problems of criminal legal proceedings regarding maintenance of appropriate protection of legitimate rights and interests of participants of legal proceedings.

According to the clauses of the Agreement, each party assists the requesting party in realization of measures of protection regarding protected individuals. Thus, the whole process of organization and realization of measures of protection is confidential and degree of confidentiality is defined in each concrete case through consultations between competent bodies of interested parties.

The Agreement was signed in Minsk on November 28, 2006 by leaders of CIS member states.

The law has been forwarded to the leader of the state to be signed into law.
