Kazakhstan ratified a number of Conventions on Nuclear Safety

Kazakhstan ratified a number of Conventions on Nuclear Safety, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

Astana. February 4. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan ratified a number of Conventions on Nuclear Safety, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

"The head of state signed the laws on ratification of the Convention on Nuclear Safety, on ratification of the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, on ratification of the Convention on Assistance in the Case of a Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency, on ratification of the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.

The text of the laws have been published in press.

Vice-Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan, Aset Magauov, during presentation of the bills in the Parliament of Kazakhstan said that ratification of the Convention on Nuclear Safety will allow introducing the basic legal tools for functioning of the system of nuclear safety.

"The participants of the Convention on Nuclear Safety are 65 states. It is directed at achievement of high level of nuclear safety, creation and support of nuclear installations, efficiency of protection measures from potential radiation danger," A. Magauov informed.

The Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident is directed at prevention of nuclear accidents and provision of information about nuclear accidents."
