The Presidents of CSTO member states condemned aggression of Georgia in South Ossetia and spoke in support of an active role of the Russian Federation in resolution of the situation in South Ossetia and called upon the world community to assess the situation on Caucasus without double standards, the agency reports.

Kazakhstan Today - The Presidents of CSTO member states condemned aggression of Georgia in South Ossetia and spoke in support of an active role of the Russian Federation in resolution of the situation in South Ossetia and called upon the world community to assess the situation on Caucasus without double standards, the agency reports.

According to the press service, after completion of the meeting of CSTO Security Council, the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, held the press conference in the extended format.

"Summing up the Moscow session of CSTO Security Council, the President of Russia noted that the session was held in an uneasy international situation after the events in the Caucasian region. One of the main results of the meeting was consolidated position on South Ossetia," the press service informs.

"As for recognition of independence of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medvedev, emphasized that all CSTO partners will make independent decision proceeding from the general principles and norms of the international law and being guided by the national interests," the text states.

"The main document accepted among others was Declaration of the Moscow session of CSTO Security Council. In the end of the press conference the President of Russia stated that CSTO has been the guarantor of territorial integrity and sovereignty of CSTO member states. He thanked all the leaders of the states for joined work and wished Armenia successes in chairmanship in CSTO Security Council," the press service informs.
