Mazhilis Chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin briefly summarized the activity of the Chamber at the final plenary session of 2018, the Mazhilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan's press office reports.
According to the Mazhilis Speaker, the deputies' legislative work is carried out taking into consideration the priorities outlined by President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"The deputies have focused on the draft laws aimed at, firstly, improving the living standards of the entire Kazakh people and increasing the country's well-being," said Nurlan Nigmatulin.
The Mazhilis Speaker also noted the intensity of the efforts of the deputies' body since the first day of the session and underlined that the Mazhilis deputies are to deal with a considerable amount of work to legally ensure the implementation of the Head of State's instructions.
"Since the beginning of the current session, 7 governmental hours, one Parliamentary hearing, 7 visiting sessions of the Mazhilis's Committees, and 3 international conferences have taken place. In addition, it is essential for us to work with voters, support effective feedback," said Nurlan Nigmatulin.
The Mazhilis Speaker also mentioned that after the publication of the recent Address of the President, the Mazhilis deputies left for the regions to hold meetings with the population on the document's key provisions.
At the end, Nurlan Nigmatulin thanked the counterparts for the active, joint legislative work, and expressed confidence that quality and effective legislative support for the Head of State's strategic course would be provided in the following year owing to coherent and professional efforts of the Mazhilis deputies.
In general, since the 4th session, the Mazhilis deputies approved the draft laws relating to self-employed, a new model of the guaranteed volume of medical care, public procurements and procurements of the quasi-public sector. The draft law "On natural monopolies" has been also passed, as well as the first sectoral law "On cinematography."
The law "On the Republican Budget for 2019-21" also envisages a full financial base for implementing the Address of the President approved by the deputies.
As of today, the Mazhilis deputies work on the draft law relating to housing and communal services, public services delivery, the agro-industrial complex management.
The deputies' legislative work in 2019 will be focused on such areas as the introduction of legislative amendments to reduce the load on pupils and teachers, environmental amendments. In addition, the development of the business environment and the regulation of commercial activities, tourism are in the spotlight.
