MFA to discuss preparation for Astana process

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Russia Kayrat Abdrahmanov and Sergey Lavrov will discuss in January 20 in Moscow the preparation for the meeting in Astana on Syria, and also development of the relations of two countries.

Astana. 20 January. Kazakhstan Today - Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Russia Kayrat Abdrahmanov and Sergey Lavrov will discuss in January 20 in Moscow the preparation for the meeting in Astana on Syria, and also development of the relations of two countries.

As the official representative of Russia Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported earlier, "the parties will consider a number of organizational aspects of the international meeting on Syrian conflict solution which is coming in the nearest future," TASS writes.

Talks will begin in January 23, however their many details remain unknown. According to Zakharova, it is expected that it will last several days, however their periods weren't announced. Kazakhstan officially didn't announce the place of talks.

The list of participants isn't announced.

It is known that to the capital of Kazakhstan the representatives of the armed groups of opposition and the government of Syria will arrive; the delegation will be sent by Russia, Turkey and Iran. The UN Secretary General Antoniu Gutteres asked the special envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura to join discussions. The invitation is sent the USA, however there participations hasn't confirmed yet.

Discussions, as expected, will be devoted to the strengthening and expansion of ceasefire in Syria. According to the Russian President's special representative of the Middle East and the countries of Africa, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihail Bogdanov, Russia expects the expansion of number of the groups which joined the agreement on a ceasefire regime.
