Nazarbayev met Chevron Corporation chairman

The leader of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev met the chairman of the Board of Directors - the Executive Director of Chevron Corporation David J. O'Reilly, the agency reports referring to Akorda press service. According to the press release, David J. O'Reilly told the President about the course of realization of the project of expansion of Tengiz Chevroil activity.

Astana. April 15. Kazakhstan Today - The leader of the state Nursultan Nazarbayev met the chairman of the Board of Directors - the Executive Director of Chevron Corporation David J. O'Reilly, the agency reports referring to Akorda press service.

According to the press release, David J. O'Reilly told the President about the course of realization of the project of expansion of Tengiz Chevroil activity.

"The first stage has been completed, as a result of which we have increased oil extraction by 4 million tons. We plan to extract 18.7 million tons up to the end of the year. By the end of the second stage of the project of expansion we will extract up to 24 million tons of oil a year," David J. O'Reilly said at the briefing.

The parties discussed ecological aspects of the work of the company, in particular, realization of the project of storage and recycling of sulfur. The President gave the instructions concerning improvement of the ecological situation in the area of Tengiz deposit and indicated the necessity of strict observance of the nature protection legislation of the country."

Chevron is the first large foreign oil company that has come to work in Kazakhstan. Now the company is going to celebrate its 15th anniversary since the date of creation of joint venture Tengiz Chevroil.
