Nazarbayev to visit Germany in January 2007

Astana. October 31. Kazakhstan Today - The Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit Germany in January 2007, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev informed today at the press conference.

"Kazakhstan supports aspiration of Germany to hold the post of a permanent member of Security Council of the United Nations. We are grateful to German leaders for support of Kazakhstan nomination to the post of OSCE chairman in 2009," K. Tokayev said.

According to Kazakh FM, during the meeting the parties agreed to develop mutual relations of two countries within the international structures. "The international relations policy of our states in many respects coincide, especially it concerns problems of non-distribution of nuclear weapons, struggle against extremism and terrorism and settlement of regional conflicts. We note central role of the United Nations and share approaches to its reforming," K. Tokayev said.

In his turn, Frank-Walter Steinmeier noted that Germany preparing for presidency in EU has serious interests in the Central Asian region in the economic and political presence, assistance in development of democratic institutes and the struggle against terrorism.
