Presidents of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan discussed development of economic cooperation

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as priorities for cooperation in the framework of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.

Astana. July 6. Kazakhstan Today - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Thursday held a meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, who arrived with working visit to Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to the President's press service, during the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as priorities for cooperation in the framework of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyz Republic. Today, Kazakhstan is one of the leading trade partner and largest investor of the Kyrgyz economy.

In 2011 the trade turnover between the two countries reached $750 million. In January - April 2012 this figure increased by 34% compared with the corresponding period last year to $281 million.
