Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held talks in a narrow format in Astana, Qazinform News Agency cites Akorda.
Your Excellency, Mr. President, my dear brother, I am very glad to see you in the capital of Kazakhstan. First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for accepting my invitation and visiting Kazakhstan on a state visit. It can be stated with confidence that your visit is of exceptional importance and is a historic event. Undoubtedly, your current visit will give a powerful impetus to cooperation between our two countries. Kazakhstan and Türkiye are bound by consistently friendly, fraternal relations and eternal partnership. There are no contradictions or disagreements between our states, stated the Kazakhstani leader.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted with satisfaction the agreements reached during last year's official visit to Türkiye.
The fifth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held in Ankara, following which very important decisions were made. Today, the sixth meeting of the Council will take place, as well as a large-scale business forum. A representative delegation has arrived with you in Astana. I am convinced that your visit will be successful. Today, we are taking a big step toward a bright future for our mutual cooperation, said President Tokayev.
In turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan thanked his Kazakhstan counterpart for the warm welcome.
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the invitation to visit the land of my ancestors. You are showing us exceptional hospitality. The honor with which my delegation was met - from the moment we crossed the border into Kazakhstan's airspace and were escorted by jets - has brought us great joy. We certainly will not forget this. I am confident that today's visit will make a significant contribution to strengthening the unity of our brotherly nations, said Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Portuguese Parliamentarians Aim to Strengthen Ties with Kazakhstan

Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Jean Galiev, held a working meeting with the Chairperson of the "Portugal - Kazakhstan" Friendship Group, Felicidade Vital, and members of the parliamentary group, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
During the conversation, the diplomat provided the Portuguese deputies with detailed information on the progress of the large-scale constitutional reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Special attention was paid to the results of the national referendum, which consolidated the transition to a new political model and strengthened the role of the legislative branch through the creation of a unicameral Parliament - the Kurultai.
The Head of the diplomatic mission emphasized the strategic nature of relations between Astana and Lisbon. "Kazakhstan sees Portugal as an important and reliable partner in the European Union. We highly value our open dialogue and strive to fill bilateral cooperation with new practical content," he noted.
An important point on the agenda was the upcoming elections to the Kurultai scheduled for August this year. It was noted that the formation of a new composition of the country's legislative body would be the logical conclusion of the constitutional reform aimed at protecting human rights and democratizing the system.
The parties discussed in detail a wide range of priority areas for cooperation, focusing on practical interaction. In particular, in the field of digital technology development and the implementation of artificial intelligence, the parties discussed the development of high-tech ecosystems. Interest was expressed in studying the operational experience of Portuguese science and technology parks, such as the "Portuguese Silicon Valley", Taguspark. Kazakhstan aims to implement similar models for the synergy of science, business, and advanced technologies.
In the field of agriculture, agro-industry, and fisheries, where Portugal possesses immense expertise, opportunities for cooperation were considered, including the establishment of joint manufacturing enterprises utilizing the potential of the two countries' regions, which aligns with the goals of developing decentralized partnerships.
Regarding water resource management and ecology, the Ambassador noted that Kazakhstan is also interested in utilizing Portugal's experience and technologies. Special attention was paid to the activities of the Águas de Portugal holding in efficient and rational water cycle management, the implementation of innovations, including artificial intelligence, in hydro-resource processing, and the adaptation of water management to climate change.
Speaking about attracting investment and expanding trade, the interlocutors discussed in a pragmatic key the possibilities for implementing joint industrial projects and developing logistical routes.
Vital and the members of the Friendship Group expressed support for the transformations taking place in Kazakhstan and confirmed their readiness to pay a working visit to Astana after the conclusion of the electoral cycle and the formation of a similar friendship group in the new Kazakh Parliament. This, according to the mutual conviction, will contribute to bringing bilateral cooperation based on trust to a new level.

In Minsk, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus recently convened for the latest round of inter-ministerial consultations dedicated to international legal matters, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
The Kazakhstani delegation was led by Dastan Suleimenov, Director of the International Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, while the Belarusian side was headed by Andrei Popkov, Head of the Main Treaty and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
During the session, the parties conducted a comprehensive audit of the existing bilateral treaty and legal framework, while outlining strategic pathways for its further refinement and optimization.
The diplomats also deliberated on the procedural intricacies of treaty-making within both nations, including the regulatory acts governing these processes. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the exchange of institutional expertise regarding the registration, cataloging, and archiving of international instruments. Furthermore, the participants shared insights on pressing issues currently shaping the global international legal landscape.
The consultations, characterized by a constructive and collaborative atmosphere, reaffirmed the mutual commitment to deepening cooperation between the legal services of the two foreign ministries. By mutual agreement, the subsequent round of consultations is slated to take place in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held a meeting with the UN Under Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Diene Keita, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
During the talks, the head of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy ministry noted that President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attaches particular importance to comprehensive cooperation with the United Nations. Kazakhstan remains a steadfast supporter of the UN as a universal platform for addressing global issues and actively participates in the implementation of the "UN80" initiative aimed at a comprehensive reform of multilateral dialogue.
In this context, the Minister positively assessed the cooperation between the Government of Kazakhstan and UNFPA in improving maternal and infant health outcomes, developing youth health centres, and conducting comprehensive demographic and population studies.
As noted by Minister Kosherbayev, healthcare, youth policy and gender equality should become key areas of regional dialogue with UNFPA.
In this regard, the Minister called for the active use of the UN Regional Centre for the Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty as a platform for expanding UNFPA’s presence in the region.
For her part, Diene Keita stressed that the United Nations commends Kazakhstan’s systemic reforms in promoting gender equality, protecting women’s rights and expanding opportunities for women.
She also noted that Kazakhstan has achieved impressive results in healthcare, the development of youth and family policy, as well as in reducing maternal and child mortality rates.
During the meeting, the UN Under Secretary-General announced the Organization’s decision to establish the UNFPA Central Asian Hub on Demographic Resilience in Almaty, which will serve as a regional centre for collecting, analysing and researching demographic development trends in Central Asia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue their constructive dialogue on pressing issues of the global and regional agenda.

Manufacturing Sector Growth Reaches 9.9% in First Four Months

According to preliminary data from the Bureau of National Statistics, Kazakhstan’s GDP growth in January-April 2026 amounted to 3.6% compared to the same period last year, primeminister.kz reports.
Following the first quarter, economic growth dynamics improved (GDP growth of 3% in January-March 2026). Industrial production entered positive territory over the four-month period, with the physical volume index reaching 102.1%. The key factor behind the recovery in industry was the acceleration of the manufacturing sector, where production volume increased by 9.9%. High growth rates continue in mechanical engineering (+23.3%), driven by increased output of vehicles, agricultural and railway machinery, electrical goods, and equipment.
High growth was also recorded in the following sectors:
- Light industry - 2.3 times
- Furniture production - +41.7%
- Pharmaceuticals - +35.2%
- Construction materials - +27.7%
- Chemical industry - +18.4%
- Food production - +14.4%
Overall, the positive economic dynamics in the first four months of the year were driven by steady growth in key sectors. The highest growth rates were recorded in:
- Construction - 114.5%
- Transport and warehousing - 112%
- Manufacturing - 109.9%
- Trade - 105.1%
- Agriculture - 103.6%
Thus, the current structure of real GDP growth is characterized by the strengthening role of non-resource sectors, particularly construction, transport, trade, and manufacturing.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Brazil is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Latin America, akorda.kz reports.
I am confident that your visit to Kazakhstan is both timely and significant, and will give a strong impetus to the strengthening of bilateral relations. I would like to note with satisfaction the steady development of multifaceted cooperation between our countries. A large delegation of business representatives has arrived with you, which demonstrates serious intentions and a responsible approach toward cooperation with Kazakhstan," the President said.
The Head of State conveyed his greetings and warm wishes to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and invited him to pay a visit to Kazakhstan.
Mauro Vieira noted that he had arrived in Kazakhstan on the personal instructions of the President of Brazil. According to him, the two countries possess considerable potential for further expanding political, trade-economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation.
The interlocutors discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in such areas as energy, mining and metallurgy, agriculture, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
The Head of State also highlighted the importance of coordinating the efforts of the two countries on issues related to international security, nuclear disarmament, and non-proliferation. Particular attention was paid to the reform of the United Nations and its institutions, as well as the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear program.
President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the exclusively peaceful use of nuclear energy under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
It was noted that Kazakhstan enjoys broad international trust in the field of nuclear non-proliferation and possesses the necessary infrastructure, expertise, and scientific and technical base for the safe handling of sensitive nuclear materials. Kazakhstan hosts the world’s only IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank.
The Head of State expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness, as a gesture of goodwill, to facilitate the resolution of issues related to the Iranian nuclear program should relevant international agreements be reached and the matter move into a practical phase.
