Resolution on granting EDB status of observer in UN General Assembly accepted

The sixth committee of the UN General Assembly accepted the resolution on granting to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) the status of observer in the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to EDB press service.

Almaty. November 1. Kazakhstan Today - The sixth committee of the UN General Assembly accepted the resolution on granting to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) the status of observer in the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to EDB press service.

According to the press service, the United Nations General Assembly should approve this decision of the committee in the near future.

Granting of such status will allow the bank to participate in the sessions and the work of the UN General Assembly and cooperate at a new level with its specialized institutes. EDB will have an opportunity to essentially expand its activity within the limits of the international credit and financial relations.

The Eurasian Development Bank - the international financial organization founded by Russia and Kazakhstan in January, 2006 with the purpose of assistance to development of the market economy of its member states. EDB is called to become one of key elements of financial infrastructure on the Eurasian space, the effective investment mechanism of development of cooperation of the countries-participants, deepening of integration processes and stimulations of socially economic development, including the EurAsEC member states.
