The situation in Afghanistan has remained extremely intense. CSTO Assistant Secretary General, Ara Badalyan, informed at the seventh session of the working group for Afghanistan at the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the agency reports citing the press service of the CSTO Secretariat.

CSTO Assistant Secretary General, Ara Badalyan, informed at the seventh session of the working group for Afghanistan at the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the agency reports citing the press service of the CSTO Secretariat.

"During the session the national coordinators of CSTO member states for Afghanistan have exchanged opinions on the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. It was noted that the situation in this country has remained to the extremely intense: it was not possible to neutralize threat of distribution of international terrorism, drug trafficking, and transboundary organized crime," A. Badalyan said.

The national coordinators also summed up the activity of the working group for Afghanistan at the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for the first half of 2009 and confirmed the work plan for the second half of 2009.
