SPECA remains leading factor in deepening of cooperation between UNESCAP and Central Asia- Tazhin

Almaty. May 22. Kazakhstan Today - The UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) remains the leading factor in deepening of cooperation between UNESCAP and the Central Asian states including Kazakhstan. The Chairman of the Commission, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin said today during the ministerial meeting of the 63rd UNESCAP session, the agency reports.

The Kazakhstan Foreign Minister emphasized "Kazakhstan is ready to widen its cooperation with all countries of the region in the field of development of transit-transport potential." "Strong basis for expansion of such cooperation became signing, within the limits of UNESCAP, of two major intergovernmental agreements on development of networks trans-Asian automobile and highways and trans-Asian railway communication," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded.

SPECA was created by the initiative of the Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 1997.
