There is no connection between Russian financial support and closing of American base

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Igor Chudinov, at the press conference on the results of the visit of the Prime Minister to Moscow said there is no relationship between Russian financial support and closing of the American base Gansi, the agency reports.

Bishkek. February 6. Kazakhstan Today - The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Igor Chudinov, at the press conference on the results of the visit of the Prime Minister to Moscow said there is no relationship between Russian financial support and closing of the American base Gansi, the agency reports.

To the question: "Is there any relationship between termination of the agreement on the base in Kyrgyzstan and receiving a loan from Russia?" I. Chudinov said that it is a coincidence. "However, the negotiations on allocation of financial assistance by Russia to Kyrgyzstan continued for two years. During this time, Kyrgyzstan presented for consideration of Russia more than 10 projects," I. Chudinov added.

I. Chudinov said the agreement to open the air base in the territory of Kyrgyzstan was reached 8 years ago for 1 year. "It has been 8 years, the situation has changed, both in Afghanistan and in the work of the economic reconstruction of Afghanistan," I. Chudinov said.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that during this time Afghanistan has changed. "The Constitution was adopted, the President was elected, and the government of the country has been elected. In other words, there are all branches of government. This is different from the situation that was in 2001, there were military actions in the country," he added.

The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on December 15th, 2006 demanded to revise the conditions of stay in the country of the American military base and deprivation of immunity of the American military officers. According to the intergovernmental agreement, the U.S. soldiers do not have immunity, and in case of a violation of the law, they will be under the jurisdiction of the United States. The formal reason for this was the murder of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, on 6 December ,by the U.S. Air Force officer at the checkpoint of the airport.
