Judicial session in Shahtinsk started its work

Shahtinsk. January 23. Kazakhstan Today - The court procedure on the fact of methane explosion as a result of which 41miners died started its work in the city of Shahtinsk of the Karaganda oblast, the agency reports.

The procedure began today at 11.00 under the presidency of the judge Madaui Balapanov. The charges have been brought against eight workers of the mine. The chief engineer of the mine Vasily Tonkih, the head mechanic Ivan Sysuyev, the head power engineering specialist Sergey Borgul, the chief of the site Vladimir Suleymenov and the mechanic of the site Nikolay Kovalev are in the dock. These people have been charged according to three clauses of the Criminal code of Kazakhstan - item 152, part 1,2 (infringement of labor safety regulation), item 245, part 1,2 (infringement of safety rules at conducting mining or civil work) and item 232 (careless duties execution).

Today during the process the defendants declared that they do not consider themselves guilty. We completely do not admit ourselves guilty," one of the participants of the process said.

As it was informed earlier, as a result of the event on September 20, the explosion of methane in the mine named after Lenin in the Karaganda oblast, 41 miners died, 8 people were heavily injured, four received light injures. The governmental commission named rough infringements of requirements of labor safety and safety precautions as the reason for the explosion. The commission also came to the conclusion that 22 people including former chairmen of the company Mittal Steel Temirtau are involved in the event. However, the accusation was brought against eight technical officers of the mine, five from whom have been arrested and three have been given a written undertaking not to leave the place.
