Kazakhstan began replacement of banknotes of national currency

Almaty. November 15. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan started replacement of banknotes of the old sample of national currency by banknotes of new design, the agency reports.

As it was informed earlier, banknotes with the value of 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 KZT of 1998 - 2003 are subject to replacement.

Bank notes of the old and new sample will be circulated in parallel within one year. "During this period banknotes of old design will have the same solvent power as well as banknotes of new design," the head of the National Bank Anvar Saydenov explained. During one more year banknotes of old sample will be accepted in the branches of commercial banks and within the next 10 years it will be possible to hand over banknotes of old design in the branches of the National Bank.

The National Bank consider that replacement of denominations of the old sample to new will allow to outstrip technologies of imitation of banknotes of national currency and protect personal assets of the citizens.
