Last judicial trial over USA citizen accused of theft on territory of Kazakhstan finished

Almaty. July 11. Kazakhstan Today - Last judicial trial over USA citizen Menahem Seidenfeld accused of theft on the territory of Kazakhstan has finished in Almala regional court of Almaty, the agency reports.

The last word has been given to the defendant Menahem Seidenfeld. In his speech the American citizen stated that he completely denies his fault, as, in his opinion, "there was no theft." "Yesterday during pleadings we requested to close the case due to absence of corpus delict," the lawyer of the defendant Bauyrzhan Bukanov explained.

However, yesterday during pleadings at the judicial session, the accusation insisted that being the General Director of Arna Company M. Seidenfeld forced his subordinates to re-write the documents to hide the sum of money he had stolen and the cashier with the bookkeeper of the company had committed it under his pressure.

As it was informed earlier, M. Seidenfeld being in 2002 the General Director of Arna joint-stock company (nowadays Ducat), spent taken from the company money for personal needs. M. Seidenfeld had been in manhunt for a year and a half and was detained on the territory of the Russian Federation in Blagoveshchensk. By the demand of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Kazakhstan he was extradited to Kazakhstan and in November 2006 transferred to law enforcement bodies of the Republic. The Public Prosecutor read the clauses of accusation and requested court to sentence M. Seidenfeld to 6 years of imprisonment with property confiscation.
