OSCE shows interest in fair resolution of Krishna residential buildings situation

Astana. February 23. Kazakhstan Today - OSCE is interested in fair resolution of the situation regarding residential buildings of the members of the religious association Society of consciousness of Krishna in Almaty oblast. Human rights representative of Kazakhstan Bolat Baykadamov stated during the meeting with the members of the advisory council of OSCE religious freedom M. Evans and K. Durham, the chairman of the OSCE department for human rights E. Benini.

"During the meeting the parties discussed the situation developed around the residential buildings of the members of the religious association Society of consciousness of Krishna in Almaty oblast," the Ombudsmen press service informed on Thursday.

According to the press service, the representative of human rights acquainted the OSCE members with the position of Kazakhstan national law establishments concerning pulling down of the residential buildings of the members of the religious association Society of consciousness of Krishna and the actions undertaken by the state institution.

"The Ombudsmen noted that despite the efforts undertaken by the institution according to the pre-judicial verdict of the case, the dispute had been passed to court and ceased to be the competence of the national law establishments. At the same time, the establishment of the representative is ready to make efforts for conciliatory proposal for the developed situation," the Ombudsmen press service said.

B. Baydakamov noted the absence of any discrimination on the religious grounds and expressed his consent with the verdict of the committee that was considering the issue of Krishna residential buildings.
