Parents of HIV infected children demand additional social benefits

Shymkent. February 5. Kazakhstan Today - Small part of parents of HIV infected children demands lifelong pensions and extra salary raise, the agency reports.

Yesterday, about ten people, parents of HIV infected children, gathered near the building of the regional administration. They demanded meeting with the regional administration. The parents expressed discontent with the decision of court and put forward requirements about additional social benefits. Some of them consider that it is necessary to grant them lifelong pensions and to pay 60 percent extra wage raise. Such sum is added to the salary of the physicians working with HIV positive children.

According to the chairman of the regional fund Protection of Children Against AIDS Kanat Alseitov, the meeting of the parents with the deputy akim of the oblast Darhan Mynbay took place last night. At the meeting the parents stated their demands. However, K. Alseitov explained that this is point of view of only a small part of parents.

"No more than ten percent supports lifelong pensions and salary raise. I am against it. In my opinion, it is a parasitic attitude," the chairman of the fund Protection of Children Against AIDS ".

As it was informed earlier, on February 1, the verdict of court on the claim of four parents of HIV infected children was pronounced in Shymkent. According to this verdict, two mothers, whose children died, has been granted payment of 100 thousand KZT and two others, whose children have been infected - 70 thousand KZT.

As of today, 145 HIV positive children and 17 HIV positive mothers have been registered in the South Kazakhstan oblast, ten of whom have already died.
