Serik Burkitbaev appointed KazMunaiGas chairman
Astana. May 29. Kazakhstan Today - The chairman of the National Company KazMunaiGas has been appointed, the agency reports.
The new chairman of the National Company was introduced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan thanked ex-chairman of the National Company KazMunaiGas for the completed work.
50-year-old S. Burkitbayev, a graduate of the Moscow Engineer and Physics Institute, who in different years was the chairman of JSC Kazakhtelekom, worked as the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, and the adviser of the President of the country. For the last years he worked as Director of Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas. In February, 2008 he was appointed the chairman of JSC National Scientific Technological Holding Samgau by the decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
JSC KazMunaiGas was created in 2002 by the decree of the President of Kazakhstan to increase the level of maintenance of effective and transparent development of oil and gas complex and protection of the interests of Kazakhstan in oil and gas sector. KazMunaiGas, a state-owned company, is the legal successor of JSC Kazakhoil and JSC Transport Oil and Gas.
Following the results of the first quarter of 2008, KazMunaiGas increased volume of oil and gas condensate extraction by 9% - 4.4 million tons. Consolidated extraction of oil and gas condensate is expected to reach 17.4 thousands tons in 2008.
