UNT in Almaty to take place on June 1- 5

Unified National Testing (UNT) for school graduates of Almaty schools will be held on June 1-5 in six high schools. Director of Education Department of Almaty city Rakhat Shimashev informed at the meeting in Almaty akimat on Monday, the agency reports.

Almaty. May 20. Kazakhstan Today - Unified National Testing (UNT) for school graduates of Almaty schools will be held on June 1-5 in six high schools. Director of Education Department of Almaty city Rakhat Shimashev informed at the meeting in Almaty akimat on Monday, the agency reports.

UNT will be held in five subjects: the Kazakh and Russian languages (language of instruction), mathematics, history of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh language for graduates of schools with the Russian language of instruction and Russian for the graduates of schools with the Kazakh language of instruction and one optional subject by students' choice depending on the selected speciality.

"Number of test questions in each subject - 25. All in all there are 125 tasks. Passing level - is not less than 50 points, including not less than seven points in a profile subject and not less than three - in the others," R. Shimasheva informed.

According to the department, this year 8579 graduates finish schools of the city, including: with the Kazakh language of instruction - 2724 (31.7 %), with the Russian language of instruction - 5721 (66.7 %), with the Uigur language of instruction - 134 (1.65 %). 7386 graduates applied for UNT, or 86.1 % of the general number of graduates (2007 - 82 %).

According to the analysis done by the department, the graduates gave preference to geography - 44.2 %, the English language - 22.6 % and physics - 16.1 %.
